Breanne Marie & The Front Porch Sinners:

Great Lakes country music from a front porch in Duluth, MN. Breanne Marie broke into the Minnesota music scene as a solo performer with an acoustic guitar and a repertoire of country covers and originals. Her 2013 debut album “Six Strings of Peace and Sanity” was a collection of sweet and deeply personal songs she wrote following her father’s suicide and her brother’s death in a car accident. The success of the album set the stage for the formation of her full-blown backing band The Front Porch Sinners; Evan Tepler on guitar, Johnny Peterson on pedal steel and mandolin, Kyle Gondik-Anderson on bass, Matt Groom on drums, Kailyn Spencer on fiddle and Danielle Gondik-Anderson on background vocals. The group plays "Great Lakes country music" which is an alt-country sound using classic country instruments mixed with lyrics that speak to the hard times and natural beauty of rust belt communities like Duluth, MN.

In 2021, they released a full length album “Juniper” on digital, CD and a tri-color splatter vinyl.

“‘Juniper is wonderfully soaring and uplifting alongside the saddest of scenarios.” – Americana UK

“The melodies on this album are well crafted. Each melody has layers of sound that make you want to hear the album on the best available sound system.” – Americana Highways

Kelley Smith:

Minnesota folk musician Kelley Smith recently released her first record, Moon Child, just after her 40th birthday. Raised in the woods by musicians, she always had music in her bones, but it wasn’t until her late 30’s that she attached to her guitar and began songwriting. She did so as a practice in freeing herself from social anxiety.

Described as ‘the musical love child of Gillian Welch and Doc Watson,’ Smith is a guitar picker with an old-timey voice. An emotive performer, she provides “a safe space for folks to feel their feelings.” Her first record, Moon Child, comes across as a mid-life coming-of-age story. As an insomniac, Smith wrote this first batch of songs by moonlight. They evoke a sense of belonging, juxtaposed with escapism, as she croons about long-term love, grief, and her draw to the night sky.

In a short while, Smith has become a regionally recognized folk artist, and has shared stages with roots music greats such as Dave Simonett of Trampled by Turtles and Drew Peterson, and will open for Charlie Parr in January, 2023. Her songs can be heard in all of the usual places, as well as on radio stations across Minnesota, including The Current and Northern Community Radio.

“Kelley has performance sparkle that’s simply youthful. It belies innocence without being sugary...Kelley is similar in tradition to New Zealand’s marvelous Jenny Mitchell. Ladies who don’t adhere to the path of showboating yet exhibit extraordinary songwriting & performance skills.” - John Apice (Americana Highways)

“Moonchild is a great listen. Intimately personal with a wry sense of humor, Kelley takes the listener on a journey of becoming. A deep look inward to which we can all relate in one way or another.” – Dave Simonett (Trampled by Turtles)
